  • JURI NORSTEIN TALKS ABOUT DIGITAL RESTORATION

    Academy of Performing Arts (AMU) will award Honorary Doctorate to famous animated film creator Juri Norstein on the 6th of May 2014. The interview with JURI NORSTEIN, well known of the ANIFILM festival audience, about digital restoration of his films, especially THE FOX AND THE HARE (Лиса и заяц, 1973).

    Russian director with respect of the quality of digitised films in our Central and Eastern Euroepan region, explained in interview to our research expert why he is restoring his films by himself now in cooperation with cinematographer:

    "While I had lost the court case about unsatisfactory quality of my films digitisation,  Semjonov, the lawyer of  the publisher Detail, recommended me to watch my colour film next time better in black and white."

    The interview with Juri Norstein, which helps the researchers to compare quality of digital restoration his films on dvd, will be evaluated and published in the final research papers.

  • DIGITAL VS. ORIGINAL

    The National Film Archive in Warsaw (Filmoteka Narodowa) will organize the conference DIGITAL VS. ORIGINAL summarizing polish research and digitisation project NITROFILM, dedicatated to the conservartion and digitization of pre-war feature films, at the Iluzjon Cinema in Warsaw from the 28th to 29th of November 2013. The event  presents latest research findings as well as the crucial idea of the authenticity which deals with th the original film presentation and its digital version differencies including film-relateddocuments such as posters, photos, scripts or other materials.

  • FILM A CULTURE HERITAGE

    15th anniversary Czecho-slovak filmologic conference focused to FILM AND CULTURE HERITAGE take place in cooperation of the Slovak Film Institute (Slovenský filmový institut) and the Czech National Film Archive (Národní filmový archiv) in Krpacovo from the 10th of November 10th to the 13th 2013. The event, where some experts included in the research project meet too, deals with the birth of the archive as well as the problems of digitisation and digital restoration in our Central European region from different points of views. The experts presented different film heritage digital restoration and research projecsts as well as number of digital screens in Visegrad countries. The anthology FILM AND CULTURE HERITAGE of the event will be published in 2014.
